Here the two most important parts to take care regularly:
Next, put down some newspapers or rags to protect the surface you will be using to change mower's oil. Disconnect the wires of the spark plug to prevent starting the lawn mower accidentally during this oil changing process. Then, put down a catch basin and tip the oil reservoir on to the basin, fully draining the reservoir of oil. The last step is to refill the oil reservoir of the motor. Make it sure to consult with the user manual before selecting the right motor oil to use. Never forget to reattach the wire of the spark plug and check where to properly dispose of the used oil. It’s as easy as that.
Often times, mower's blade gets neglected and is not worth sharpening any longer. In fact, if the blade is free of major chips or dings, sharpening it is the most cost-effective route. Pick up a handheld bastard file and start the sharpening process from the top side of the cutting edge. This way will be better for preserving the blade. Keep in mind that files should have to only work during the pushing motion. About 40 even strokes across the cutting surface would be sufficient. Never attempt to file the mower's blade down to razor sharpness. Butter knife sharpness will be fine and preserve the blade longer.
